Bridget O’Brien

Deeply influenced by American landscape painters of the 19th and 20th centuries, she seeks to create work that is purgative and cleansing for the spirit of the artist and spectator alike. She believes that art is humanity’s way of metabolizing a constantly evolving reality, a reality of which is therefore malleable, rich, and formed by a collective consciousness.

BIOGRAPHY

Bridget O’Brien is a painter living and working in Northeast Indiana. She received her BFA in painting from Indiana University in 2020, and works primarily with pastel, acrylic, and watercolor. Raised in flux between Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Windsor, Ontario, her work is deeply influenced by the post-rust belt landscape emblematic of these regions — and the hum of environmental decay those images represent.
