Jacquei Seals

As an AA quilter I delight in all colors using geometric designs, ethnic and fabrics that “catches” my eye that I know I have to utilize. I’ve made quilts since ‘94 and it’s my passion. I want to leave a legacy for others to enjoy.

BIOGRAPHY

I was looking for something for the youth to do at the Boys and Girls Club some years ago as a Cultural Enrichment Coordinator when at the library I discovered quilt books and took as many as I could home. I got “hooked”! I’d sew clothes before that because of my height as there weren’t any “petites” while growing up so my grandmother who worked at W&D in the millinery invited me up there where I met her cronies. As an only child, I made my clothes to fit but later my first quilt was that of a sheet on the bottom and a huge piece of fabric panel that said, “Happiness is Snoopy and Charlie Brown” and I wrote w/ a black marker and Sidney Jacques Seals for his queen size top and put batting in it and sent him off to camp. Needless to say, he came back without that quilt I made. I did take a class in hand quilting years afterwards and was so thankful that Mr. Howe invented the sewing machine because although I did learn how to hand quilt, it’s too time consuming and I like using the sewing machine to work on multiples at a time.
