Joanna Yeager

I am a local artist who specializes in watercolor paintings. I accept commissions and most often do portraits. As I master the medium, I discover just how much emotion I can pour out in every brush stroke. When working on commissions for people (especially for those I know well) I meditate about the person I'm painting for and attempt to invoke a style that I believe they would find most pleasing. I enjoy making custom art for people and am in awe of how it makes them feel to receive my art.

Although my degree from The University of Montana is in Media Arts, I bring my graphic designer background into all of my art. I've always been into drawing and only recently in the past couple of years focused on painting. Growing up in rural Huntington, Indiana, I had a lot of spare time and space to work on art. Drawing to me is as second nature as breathing. After 7 years away from Fort Wayne, I had a child and decided to return to the only place that has ever felt like home. I have been fighting a lifelong battle with depression, and somehow watercolor painting has become the thing that I find to be the most therapeutic. Working with the medium and bringing mixtures of colors into life brings me profound joy (almost as much as my daughter brings me).
