I have known I wanted to be an Artist since I was a young girl. Self-taught I spent years reading every library book on art I could find. Books on embroidery, needlepoint and collage, sent me in the direction of stitching over hand painted backgrounds. Books on Victorian art and pressed flowers sparked years of creating hundreds of pressed floral and ink pieces. I still create these from wedding and funeral flowers for many customers. I take great pride in my involvement in community art projects. I have painted Mastodons, furniture for Rockin Docs, large eggs for the Mental Health Association, a viola for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, a door for Science Central, a bust for Bust a Move, wheelbarrows and even a demolition derby car. My strongest interests now lie in heavy textural acrylics. I have a technique that brings the trees and objects in my artwork up off the canvas in a three-dimensional way. I enjoy combining textures, found objects and India ink detailing to create my mixed media pieces.
