I’ve spent nearly 30 years as a photojournalist: in the US Navy, freelancing and newspaper work, and this has provided me the medium and the time to develop a keen insight into composition, an eye for the truth and a penchant for uncovering the hidden details in a story. My paintings have been exhibited in museums across the country, from the Ft. Wayne Museum of Art to the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, OR to the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, FL.

BIOGRAPHY

Samuel Hoffman enjoyed a 10-year adventure as a Photographer’s Mate in the US Navy before returning to Indiana to complete a photojournalism degree at Indiana University. Since 1990, his day job is as a staff photographer at a Midwestern paper, but since 2004, he has been capturing his memories of the sea and his wanderings on canvas.

His paintings have been recently featured at the Ft. Wayne Museum of Art; Artlink of Ft. Wayne; the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, OR; the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, FL; and the Air & Space Museum in San Diego, CA.
